Sodhi/ coconut milk……… is the famous dish in Sri Lanka. It's a coconut milk based dish and is served with string hoppers (idiyaapam) for our guest during Deepavali. This dish will be served in many of the Malaysian Sri Lankan homes and people still follow this tradition.

My mum makes sothi at least two to three times a week and we all love it. It taste best with steamed rice or string hoppers (idiyaapam). This dish is a vegetarian dish which is cooked with coconut milk, and its best to add some pounded ginger, fenugreek and cumin seeds. The spiciness from the ginger really goes well with this mild dish and also it helps with digestion. Try this dish and serve with string hoppers the results will be amazing for sure.

I have been looking for a Malaysian recipe for Sothi and this was perfect. I have given you 5 stars as the Sothi was so delicious. You can improve the recipe by being more precise with the measurements for the ingredients. I have to use canned coconut milk so "Coconut milk from 1 coconut" is ??? But by trial and error, I got the taste and amount of coconut milk right. Thank you Thanaletchumy for the recipe.
