8th Breakfast: Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang (Nasi Lemak in Banana Leaf) [189] [138.7%] [Score: 9.8]
Cuisine: Malaysian, Singaporean
Dish Type: Main
Here the nasi lemak is presented in its barest minimum, wrapped with only one piece of banana leaf. All the banana leaves I bought 3 months ago in the freezer have completely disintegrated. The nasi lemak should be wrapped with newspaper lined with banana leaf. I do not have newspaper and to buy one is “expensive”, AUD3.50. Not worth the money. I do not read newspaper and I certainly do not eat it. There was however, one loose piece of banana leaf around. So, as said in this presentation, the nasi lemak was only wrapped with that piece of banana leaf. Happy that the dish scored a 9.8 :).

Simplicity is the hallmark of a genius. The genius hallmark goes to Nyonya Cooking again!

A wrapped nasi lemak always make me super excited, and your dish looks spectacular! I don't quite understand the need of another newspaper wrapping. It gives the food an unnecessary cardboard taste. It was good to omit it ;)

Hi Matt. Just was thinking about you - the machinery that keeps Nyonya Cooking going :). Is that so? It gives the food an unnecessary cardboard taste?

I had though it looks more elegant (more artistic) with the double layers. I should try with the newspaper the next time. Thank you for the warning :)

BTW, I had though I could submit another recipe: Lemon Sago Pudding, but it turns out to be too watery. So, next time perhaps. Also, if you could by then, increase the words limit in the Introduction?

Haha. I think Matt is not used to it. This nasi lemak looks like it's from the mak cik near my home.

Working on it, Robin. I need to make a few preparations beforehand, but expect an extra field to write much more content in the next few days!
