Lovely fragrance of toasted coconut. The flavour gets even stronger in kerisik. It has a nutty smell which actually smells like rendang to me, lol. Probably majority of the fragrance of rendang comes from this.

Both times I made this, I have forgotten to preheat the pan so it took quite a while.
Grated coconut pounding in progress again
Pounded the grated coconut (toasted) while it's still warm and got the coconut butter in the bottom left bowl. Yums.
Was watching the video while doing this. Cooked the grated coconut (with nothing else added) till browned, smells soooooo good
